Tower Bridge
Your personal guide will give you a family-friendly tour of this famous London structure. But please don’t call me London Bridge! Tower Bridge opened in 1894 and was built to relieve congestion for commuters in the south east of London, while allowing shipping access to the ‘Pool of London’ where 1 million tons of goods were unloaded every month. It took 4 years to build at a cost of £1 million. Designed by Horace Jones, famous for his iron structures, who gave it medieval Gothic look to blend in with the adjacent Tower of London. It was an instant hit with Londoners, initially taking 60,000 people and 8,000 carts a day. Tower Bridge is actually five bridges in one: two suspension bridges at either end, two cantilever foot bridges on top, and the main ‘bascule’ bridge in centre. In 1982, it became an official tourist attraction with a fascinating exhibition housed in one of the foot bridges. Today it is the most photographed bridge in the world. Those with a penchant for engineering will love this tour.

Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre
Your guide will accompany you on an inhouse tour of this faithful re-creation of the famous 16th century theatre. The ‘Big O’ was scene of the Bard’s greatest triumphs. The original Globe Theatre was built in 1598 on the south bank of the River Thames – a crucible of cultural flowering – and demolished in 1644. The New Globe was completed in 1997 by the American film producer, Sam Wanamaker (father of Harry Potter movie star Zoe Wanamaker), and transformed the local area of Bankside. Queen Elizabeth II came here during the first season. With a capacity of 1,600 (900 seats), the reconstruction time lasted 14 years longer than the original, using the original plans and original materials: a wooden frame, a thatched roof, and not a single metal rivet! Described as a fusion of 3 ‘A’s: actors, audience and architecture, it’s a working open-air theatre, exhibition and tour with shops and restaurants. In 2013, a separate Jacobean-style theatre was built inside the complex.
● Usually open Monday to Friday. Standard entry tickets pre-booked.

London Zoo
Your personal guide will accompany you around one of the world’s most famous zoos. The amazing history of this place stems from the fact that the original animals came from the Royal Menagerie at the Tower of London!  Such animal tales! In 1843 the first keeper tried to charm a cobra. It bit him between the eyes and he died! What animal magic: The famous reptile house featured in the first Harry Potter movie. What animal fun: Kids will enjoy the children’s petting zoo and ‘hands-on’ insect house. Plus hippos and penguins, monkeys and giraffes, lions and tigers, and, oh so very smelly! The zoo is set in the magnificent open environment of Regent’s Park. There are plenty of places for relation and refreshment. There is also an opportunity , time permitting, of a canal boat ride on the nearby Regent’s canal. So sing up: “We’re going to the zoo, zoo, zoo! How about you, you, you? You can come too, too, too. This tour uses the ‘tube’ (the Londoners’ nickname for the subway transit system). Here are five great advantages:

  1. Cost-effective: typically, a family of four can save over £150.00 on the previous car option. We can take larger groups too (up to 10).
  2. Time-effective: usually a faster way to get around the city, giving you more time to enjoy your tour. As London Transport advertising once proclaimed: ‘It’s quicker by tube!
  3. Eco-friendly: kinder to the environment, and healthier too, with a little more walking involved. Not too much, but enough to burn off some excess calories!
  4. Engaging: interact with the city, just like a local.
  5. Iconic: adds another dimension to the London visitor experience. As the oldest and largest underground transit system in the world, it’s practically an attraction in itself.

Note: We do not offer this tour by car. The combined increased costs of fuel, parking, road tax, congestion charges and licences means we can no longer effectively provide a product of reasonable value.
